Public Participation Plan PDF Print E-mail

The public is a vital component of transportation planning.  We need you to give us some direction.  Through public involvement we hope to raise the level of awareness and understanding of the transportation planning process and identify how interested citizens can become involved.

The Public Participation Plan (PPP) allows citizens to:

-  Learn how the transportation planning process works
-  Learn who is involved in your community
-  Monitor planning work

-  Attend and participate in public meetings

We Value Your Input!

As Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties continue to grow, transportation improvements are needed to keep up with this developing region!

The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Jefferson Orange Hardin Regional Transportation Study area (JOHRTS) comprised of Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties.  In conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation, SETRPC is responsible for an overall plan that will identify the most desirable and efficient means of meeting transportation needs for the next twenty years.

As part of the continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive transportation planning process for the 2007 Metropolitan Transportation Plan - 2030 (MTP), SETRPC will be hosting a series of public meetings to provide an overview and obtain comments regarding the Exempt Project 2007 MTP - 2030 and the Exempt Project JOHRTS FY 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program.

The 30-day comment period begins Thursday, June 17, 2010.  All comments must be in writing and must be received by 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2010.  Please submit all comments to Bob Dickinson at the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission, 2210 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, Texas 77703.

The following meetings are designed to solicit your ideas and input on proposed transportation improvement projects planned for our area.  Topics to be discussed include the Roadway Network, Public Transit, Air Quality, and Public Involvement.  All meetings are the same and are not restricted to a specific area.  Please choose a meeting day and time that fits your schedule.
