Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste and Scrap Tire Collection Event, Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm in the parking lot of the Buna High School at 711 County Road 734, Buna, Texas.

During this free event, SETRPC will be collecting items that could cause damage to the environment or adverse health effects if disposed of improperly. Some of the items include paints, cleaners, antifreeze, car batteries, used oil, insecticides, swimming pool chemicals and many others. The SETRPC will also collect scrap tires at no charge for the first eight (8) tires. A cash disposal fee of $1.00 is required for each additional tire (limit 30). Tires over 22” or on rims will not be accepted. SETRPC will also limit the amount of paint collected to ten (10) 1-gallon paint cans and two (2) 5-gallon paint cans.

This event will be publicized through news releases, flyers and newspaper advertisements in the Beaumont Enterprise and other area newspapers. Television commercials will also be broadcast.

The Household Hazardous Waste and Scrap Tire Event is a program of the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
